"I have been very disappointed with the customer service at this State Farm office.

Signing up for coverage was easy, but making even simple policy changes has been frustrating. The online tools allow customers to submit requests, select an effective date, and indicate that the information will be sent directly to the local agent’s office. Unfortunately, that process doesn’t appear to accomplish much.

The agent listed on my policy, Brayden, has never communicated with me directly. Instead, all communication has come from his assistant, Luke. In my experience, his responses often feel scripted and don’t address the specific questions being asked.

For example, I submitted an online request to remove a vehicle from my policy. Luke texted me saying he needed me to call the office but never explained why. I replied and specifically asked whether there was anything additional I needed to do to complete the request. I never received a response.

After waiting more than five days, I had to submit another online request and ultimately take time out of my workday to call the office myself just to confirm when they planned to process the change. This was a time-sensitive request that could have affected my insurance billing if it wasn’t handled promptly.

To make matters worse, I also discovered that my renters insurance policy still reflected my previous residence instead of my current one. Somehow, my mailing address had been updated, but the insured address for my renters policy had not. That is a significant oversight and left me questioning how carefully my account has been maintained. Customers should not have to discover errors like this on their own.

I work in a call center myself, so taking personal calls during business hours is difficult. On more than one occasion, I’ve had to interrupt my work or use my breaks just to follow up on requests that were already submitted through State Farm’s online system.

If customers are still required to call the office before routine online requests will be processed, that should be made clear from the beginning. Otherwise, it makes the online tools feel ineffective and defeats the purpose of offering them in the first place.

I expect better communication, timely follow-up, and basic attention to detail. If my mailing address could be updated while my renters insurance continued to list my old residence, and online requests requiring an effective date still sat untouched until I called, it raises serious concerns about how customer accounts are being managed."
